Yesterday I had a nice email exchange with Lucia Bruni, designer from Lucirmas, a design studio based in Barcelona whose creations I find extremely appealing.
Lucirmás designs and produces sustainable glass products which tell a story. They make original, handcrafted objects from 100% recycled glass, offering the quality of a beautiful, artisan product. Lucirmás’ mission is to create products which make the most of the charm, value and versatility of recycled glass.
At Lucirmás they seriously work at reducing their enviromental impact, choosing recycled glass as raw material, reducing the use of pollutants and packing their wonderful creations only in recyclable/responsible packaging.
Pure-Bottle, for instance, is a fully recycled and recyclable table set which consists of a glass, lantern and spoon, perfect to complement any dining occasion. Each table set is made from a recycled wine bottle which has been cut in two positions, giving new life and value to the object.

The lanterns provide wind protection for candles while creating a warm ambience perfect for restaurants, cafes or home settings. The glasses are simple yet durable, while making a strong ecological statement. The spoons are functional and versatile; perfect for presenting food in a restaurant, serving a salad or eating your breakfast cereal.
Nino is a recycled and recyclable candle lantern, perfect for both interior and exterior settings. Made from a single Italian ‘Prosecco’ bottle, it creates a warm, cosy light to complement a range of experiences. Nino’s portability allows them to share and create special moments anywhere – whether they’re on your restaurant, café or dining table, accompanying you to a romantic picnic or next to your bed.

With Nino, candles are protected from the wind and some restaurants may even choose to double them up as table numbers – and they can be customized on demand!
Last but not least, Hanging (with optional mirror), designed and handcrafted from a selection of beautiful glass bottles and produced in collaboration with Taller Aleph, Barcelona, is a coat hanger perfect for the entrance of your home or will spice up the walls of cafés and restaurants.

Available in two different sizes and colours and now a new ‘mirror’ version, they will be the topic of conversation and unlike small metal hooks, they will treat your clothes with care and respect.
I will meet Lucia on Friday at Superstudio Più – Fuorisalone in Milan, zona Tortona – where Lucirmas is exhibiting at the Discovery section. I can’t wait to see (and touch) their creations!
