Are you ready for the next Milan Fuorisalone? I am (almost)!

Milan: Italy’s fashion capital. But not only.

Each year, at the end of April, Milan becomes the world’s design and furniture capital. And it has always been a great event, a must-go for those who are interested in design – if you are good at spotting talents, then that is the place to test your skills -both at Fuorisalone and at Salone Satellite.

Fuorisalone 2012

From April 17th to April 22nd you can either choose to go to the Expo Area in Rho and get “dazed and confused” by the thousands of exhibitors at the Saloni Milano and Salone Satellite or to wander and wonder along Milan’ streets. I will go for the second option, this year starting from the Lambrate Station area – where you can meet Ariane Prin and her brand new stationery collection – and then -if I have time – I will go to the Tortona area.

Unfortunately I have not yet found any good website providing information about this week-long event in English, but visiting this blog and helping yourself with Google translate you can get a rough idea about what will happen.

Last year I visited only the Tortona Area, taking pictures for Inhabitat – it was a great day, where I met interesting designers and got very inspired.

Temporary Museum for New Design

Located in the Tortona area, you will find Superstudio Più – a huge location where you can find the Temporary Museum for New Design. If you are planning to visit Fuorisalone and it is your first time there, then I suggest you to stop at the Temporary Museum for New Design – you will not find nothing extremely new and “unknown” but it is absolutely worth a visit (see here for the complete list of the featured artists/collections/companies).
I also suggest you to register online at Superstudio Più to skip the line (free admission but you MUST register to be allowed to enter)!

  1. Hi Silvia, you are right… there is no comprehensive website about the fuorisalone because it is not organized and managed by a central organization…just like the Net 🙂

Perhaphs you will find our fuorisalone interesting: it’s just about rugs and carpets all handmade. Among new collections, we introduce to the Italian market recycled rugs and carpets and proudly present the Cyclo Rug, winner fo the Red Dot Design award (http://en.red-dot.org/index.php?id=2858&detail=7639&no_cache=1) and then is will be sold on-line (www.tappeti.it).

Silvia, I really hope to met you personally at our fuorisalone…
