Transmedia and children: LettersAlive | VIDEO

I am a big fan of technology, and I also think that the Web and tablets can really make education more engaging. I am not saying that a tablet-only class is the future, because what must be pursued is a balance between the new and the traditional teaching methods and media.

Being a mother of a 5 year old girl, I always experiment new tools and new media with her before judging them. Unfortunately, I think I will not be able to test Letters Alive 2.0 by LogicalChoiceTech for a while – judging only from this YouTube Video it seems very interesting and very engaging.

Letters Alive presents itself as a revolutionary supplemental reading curriculum that uses the innovative technology of augmented reality to bring letters to life for students in the form of 3D, interactive animals. In the curriculum, students master the building blocks of literacy: phonemic awareness, phonics, concepts of print, and comprehension. Letters alive aligns with Common Core State Standards and applies best practices in phonics-based reading instruction.
